Forklift Fuel Systems

Fuel System for Forklift - The fuel system is responsible for supplying your engine the diesel or gasoline it requires in order to work. If whatever of the different components in the fuel system break down, your engine will not run right. There are the main components of the fuel system listed beneath:

Fuel Tank: The fuel tank is a holding cell intended for your fuel. When filling up at a gas station, the fuel travels downward the gas hose and into your tank. Inside the tank there is a sending unit. This is what tells the gas gauge the amount of gas is within the tank.

Fuel Pump: In newer cars, nearly all contain fuel pumps usually positioned in the fuel tank. Several of the older automobiles would connect the fuel pump to the engine or placed on the frame next to the tank and engine. If the pump is inside the tank or on the frame rail, then it is electric and runs with electricity from your cars' battery, while fuel pumps which are mounted to the engine make use of the motion of the engine to be able to pump the fuel.

Fuel Filter: For overall engine life and performance, clean fuel is very important. The fuel injector is made up of small holes which clog with no trouble. Filtering the fuel is the only way this can be prevented. Filters can be found either before or after the fuel pump and in several instances both places.

Fuel Injectors: Nearly all domestic cars made after 1986, came from the factory with fuel injection. A computer control opens the fuel injectors so as to allow fuel into the engine, which replaced the carburator who's job originally was to perform the mixing of the air and fuel. This has caused better fuel economy and lower emissions overall. The fuel injector is basically a small electric valve that closes and opens with an electric signal. By injecting the fuel close to the cylinder head, the fuel stays atomized, or within small particles, and could burn better when ignited by the spark plug.

Carburetors: Carburetor function in order to mix the air with the fuel without any computer intervention. These devices are quite easy to function but do require frequent tuning and rebuilding. This is among the main reasons the newer vehicles on the market have done away with carburetors rather than fuel injection.
