Gradall Forklift Part - The Gradall excavator was the idea of two brothers Koop and ray Ferwerda. The excavator was established In the 1940's throughout World War II, when there was a scarcity of workers. The brothers faced the problems of a depleted labor force due to the war. As partners in their Cleveland, Beaumont construction business known as Ferwerda-Werba-Ferwerda they lacked the available laborers to do the delicate tasks of grading and finishing on their interstate projects. The Ferwerda brothers decided to build a machine that will save their business by making the slope grading job less manual, easier and more efficient.

Their very first design prototype was a machine with two beams set on a rotating platform which was attached atop a used truck. A telescopic cylinder moved the beams forward and backward which enabled the fixed blade at the end of the beams to push or pull dirt. Before long improving the very first design, the brothers made a triangular boom so as to add more strength. As well, they added a tilt cylinder that let the boom rotate 45 degrees in both directions. A cylinder was positioned at the rear of the boom, powering a long push rod to enable the machinery to be outfitted with either a blade or a bucket attachment.

Gradall introduced in 1992, with the introduction of the new XL Series hydraulics, the most ground-breaking adjustment in their machines since their invention. This new system of top-of-the-line hydraulics enabled the Gradall excavator to provide comparable power and high productivity to the more conventional excavators. The XL Series ended the original Gradall equipment power drawn from low pressure hydraulics and gear pumps. These conventional systems successfully handled finishing work and grading but had a hard time competing for high productivity tasks.

The new XL Series Gradall excavators proved a significant increase in their digging and lifting ability. These models were manufactured together with a piston pump, high-pressure hydraulics system that showed huge improvements in boom and bucket breakout forces. The XL Series hydraulics system was likewise developed along with a load-sensing capability. Conventional excavators use an operator to be able to select a working-mode; where the Gradall system could automatically adjust the hydraulic power meant for the job at hand. This makes the operator's general task easier and also saves fuel simultaneously.

When the new XL Series hydraulics reached the market, Gradall was thrust into the extremely competitive industrial equipment market which are meant to deal with demolition, pavement removal, excavating as well as other industrial work. The introduction of the new telescoping boom helped to further enhance the excavator's marketability. The telescoping boom gives the excavator the ability to better position attachments and to work in low overhead areas.
